Engine Options
Starting with engines, both trucks feature four options. The base for the Ford F-150 is the 325-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, while the starter for the Chevy is the 310-horsepower turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder. While the difference is only 15 horsepower, that's still a win for the Ford.
However, the Chevy offers up to 420 horsepower, more than what the regular gas Ford F-150 can provide near Spearman. The hybrid F-150 does receive 430 horsepower, once again getting the win. One big difference, however, is that the Chevy offers a diesel engine, while the Ford does not.
Towing & Payload
When it comes to towing and payload, the comparison is much more straightforward near Elkhart. The Ford F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds, 200 more pounds than the Silverado 1500's 13,300 pounds. Similarly, the F-150 comes with a payload rating of 2,455 pounds, while the Silverado 1500 offers a payload rating of 2,280 pounds. The Ford is the clear winner, though both are capable pickups.
Design
For pickup design, both trucks offer something unique. The Ford F-150 has the Pro Access Tailgate, which allows for easy access to the cargo bed even when you hitch a trailer to it. With the Pro Power Onboard feature, you get 400 W of electric power no matter where you go around Stratford. But that's far from all. The Interior Work Surface creates a flat surface on the center console for your laptop, documents, and lunch box. Lockable storage keeps your precious items and tools secure and out of sight. Plus, Flip and Fold Seats can help you better arrange your cabin to accommodate your needs.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 offers many similar features. Highlights include the 14 available camera views to help you see all around your truck and trailer when hitched up. The Trailering App is also a helpful feature that can provide key information about your trailer while on the go. However, the Ford simply offers more than the Chevy does.
Technology
Both the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 are designed to work harder and smarter than ever before. With the Ford's available Ford Connectivity Package, you can gain easy access to unlimited Wi-Fi and your favorite apps. BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving offers stress-free cruising to keep you energized and ready for what life throws your way. Plus, with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Technology suite of safety features, you can enjoy every moment behind the wheel without worrying about your safety out on the road.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 offers similar features, like Super Cruise hands-free driving, which offers the same hands-free driving capability on compatible roads and highways. Safety is also a priority in the Chevy, featuring driver assistance technologies such as Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Following Distance Indicator. Overall, the Ford wins again.
